8) The BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) announced that it will add Egypt as its new member.

➨Egypt is the fourth new member admitted into NDB, after Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Uruguay, further expanding the bank's global outreach.

9) Ministry of Education has released the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2021.

➨In the technical ranking, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has been recognised as the Most Innovative Educational Institute in India. This is the third time that IIT Madras has secured the first rank. IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi were placed at the second and third ranks respectively.

10) The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Atul Kumar Goel, MD & CEO of UCO Bank, as MD & CEO of Punjab National Bank (PNB) with effect from February 1, 2022.

11) The Indian Army has established the Quantum Laboratory at Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) in Mhow, in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

12) Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd’s (BPCL) multi-product pipeline from Bina Refinery (MP) to POL Terminal at Panki, Kanpur (UP).

➨The 356-Km-long pipeline has a capacity of around 3.45 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA).

13) Radhika Jha, Indian Administrative Service cadre 2002, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer in state-run Energy Efficiency Services (EESL).
