1) The Union Government extended the tenure of Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das for another three years till December 2024, thus giving him a tenure of six years. 

➨ He had assumed charge on December 12, 2018, after his predecessor Urjit Patel had cited personal reasons and abruptly resigned.

2) The first-ever Ladakh Bird Festival, organised by the Department of Wildlife Protection, Ladakh in collaboration with the SECURE Himalaya Project, commenced in Leh with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.

3) Indian Railways' first full Economy AC-3 tier train will run between Delhi and Patna. The new service will be started as a special train in the festive season and to begin with a total of 5 trips are planned.

➨The special Economy AC-3 tier train will have 20 coaches and will run under the Northern railway zone.

4) The country's third largest private sector lender Axis Bank on Wednesday announced that it will elevate Rajiv Anand as the Deputy Managing Director.

➨ Anand, an Executive Director in charge of wholesale banking at present, has been with the Axis Group for 12 years.

5) Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana have taken the top three slots, emerging winners among the 18 large states in governance performance.

➨Public Affairs Index (PAI 2021), as the study is called, has prepared the list based on scores secured by the states in governance performance across the pillars of equity, growth and sustainability.

6) Eminent oncologist and Padma Shri recipient Dr M Krishnan Nair, who was the founding director of the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), died at his residence in Vellayambalam in the capital. He was 81.

7) Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs & Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep S. Puri inaugurated the 14th edition of Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference 2021.

➨The main theme of this year’s conference is “Mobility for All” which focuses on providing equitable access and promote inclusive urban transportation.

8) The 52nd edition of IHGF-DELHI FAIR – AUTUMN 2021 is being held from 28th to 31st Oct 2021 at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida Expressway was inaugurated by Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment.

9) President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated a housing scheme project for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at Gujarat's Bhavnagar.

2005 - अमृता प्रीतम, प्रसिद्ध कवयित्री, उपन्यासकार और निबंधकार ।

2020 - तमिलनाडु के कृषि मंत्री आर दुरईकन्नू का कोरोना से 72 साल की उम्र में निधन। 

2020 -  स्कॉटलैंड के दिग्गज फिल्म अभिनेता सीन कॉनेरी ( पहले जेम्स बॉन्ड सीन कॉनेरी) का 90 साल की उम्र में निधन हुआ।
