6) Shafey Kidwai has come up with his new book titled “Sir Syed Ahmad Khan: Reason, Religion And Nation”.

7) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched the Garuda app for the digital mapping of all polling stations. ➠The Garuda app will contain data such as latitude and longitude of the polling stations and will ensure faster, smarter, transparent, and timely completion of election work.

8) In a bid to promote culture and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, a week-long ‘Iconic Week’ festival was commenced which will witness performances by popular celebrities. 

➠Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, on the opening day of the festival, a cultural programme was held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu.

9) The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Saturday launched a bi-annual journal to cover all aspects of children’s lives ranging from the challenges of online education to lack of socio-emotional learning during the Covid pandemic across India.

10) Dr. Rajiv Nigam, the former Chief Scientist at CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, has been selected for the 2022 Joseph A. Cushman Award for Excellence in Foraminiferal Research.

➠Dr. Nigam is the first Indian Citizen to be selected for the prestigious award. He has been chosen for his outstanding lifetime contributions to the field of foraminifera (microfossil) research.

11) Presentation ceremony of the 67th National Film Awards was held at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan.

➠The awards were presented by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu. The awards included the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which was presented to Rajinikanth.

12) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled Ahmedabad and Lucknow as the two new teams for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after CVC Capitals Partners and Sanjiv Goenka's RPSG Group successfully bid for the franchises in Dubai's Taj Hotel.

➠The RPSG Group picked Lucknow as their home base with a winning bid of Rs 7090 crores while CVC Capital Partners have opted for Ahmedabad with a bid of Rs 5625 crores.
