1) India has slipped to the 101st position among 116 countries in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2021 from its 2020 ranking (94), to be placed behind Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.

➠The report, prepared jointly by Irish aid agency Concern Worldwide and German organisation Welt Hunger Hilfe, mentioned the level of hunger in India as “alarming” with its GHI score decelerating from 38.8 in 2000 to the range of 28.8 – 27.5 between 2012 and 2021.

2) The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved the affiliation of 100 schools from the academic year 2022-23 in government and private sectors with Sainik School Society under the Ministry of Defence.

5) The most awaited name of the winners of Miss Divine Beauty pageant 2021 is revealed now; Rashmi Madhuri from Bengaluru a 27yr old entrepreneur of pharmaceutical company was crowned the title of Miss India Earth 2021 by the former queen Tanvi Kharote.

6) Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare launched Phase II of awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS & TB under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

➠ She also virtually interacted with students from across the country and encouraged them to contribute to nation building, as India commemorates 75th year of Independence.

7) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma launched the special postal covers of Pa Togan N Sangma and Citrus Indica (Memang Narang) at Williamnagar

➠ The postal cover was launched to mark the 75th year of Independence which is being observed as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

8) To deliver essential banking services conveniently to a larger section of consumers living in relatively far-off areas, private lender Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd announced the launch of Micro ATMs across the country.

9) The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved thecontinuation of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) till 2025-26.

10) Four of Microsoft’s top leaders have received the 2021 C.K. Prahalad Award for their collaborative leadership to transform it into a carbon negative company by 2030 and remove all its historical emissions by 2050.

➠ Besides the software giant’s Indian American CEO Satya Nadella, its President and Vice Chair Brad Smith, Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood, and Chief Environmental Officer Lucas Joppa have shared the award for Global Business Sustainability Leadership.
