1) Three US-based academics won the Nobel Economics Prize for research that 'revolutionized' empirical work in their field and brought better understanding of how labor markets work, the jury said.

➨ Canadian David Card, Israeli-American Joshua Angrist and Dutch-American Guido Imbens shared the prize for providing 'new insights about the labor market' and showing 'what conclusions about cause and effect can be drawn from natural experiments.

2) Kuttiattoor mango and Edayur chilli of Kerala got Geographical Indication (GI) tag from the GI Registry at Chennai .

4) Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Indian Space Association (ISpA) via video-conferencing, and, on the occasion, also interacted with representatives of the space industry.

5) Tata Sons, India's oldest and largest conglomerate, will be the new owner of the country's debt-laden national carrier Air India.

➨The winning bid of 180 billion rupees ($2.4 billion) beat India's SpiceJet chief Ajay Singh, who offered 151 billion rupees ($2 billion) in his private capacity to acquire the airline.

6) The personnel of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Ladakh Police have scaled two unnamed 6,000-metre height mountains in Eastern Ladakh and named one of them as 'Norbu Wangdu peak' - dedicating it to ITBP's mountaineer late Nurbu Wangdus, who died during an avalanche in October 2019.

8) Kanniyakumari clove that has been awarded the geographical indication (GI) tag is known for its unique qualities like high concentration of volatile oil content and aroma.

9) Well-known Telugu filmmaker B Gopal, alias Bejawada Gopal, has been chosen for the fourth Satyajit Ray Award for his overall contribution to the Indian cinema.

➨ Instituted by the Satyajit Ray Film Society Kerala, a state-based organisation, the award comprises Rs 10,000 cash prize, a memento and plaque.

12) President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the appointment of chief justices to eight high courts in the country. In an order, the President also approved transfer of five chief justices to different high courts.

➨ As per the presidential order Rajesh Bindal, Acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court has been made the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court. Ranjit V More has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.

➨Satish Chandra Sharma, the incumbent Acting Chief Justice of Karnataka, has been made the Chief Justice of Telangana. Prakash Shrivastava has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.

➨RV Malimath, the Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh, has been named the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. Ritu Raj Awasthi has been appointed as Chief Justice of Karantaka High Court.

➨ Aravind Kumar of Karnataka High Court has been appointed as Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court. Prashant Kumar Mishra has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court.

13) Suchetha Sathish is on cloud nine. Her musical feat (singing 120 songs in 120 languages in seven-hours and 20 minutes) has earned her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. 

➨ The 16-year-old, who attempted the feat during a concert ‘Music Beyond Borders’ in Dubai on August 19, has broken the record set by another Indian, Kesiraju Srinivas who sang in 76 languages, in 2008.
